How to Fix Beam Indentation Issues in Revit
Sometimes, while working on a project, you may notice that the endpoint of a beam element extends into the column body, but a visible gap remains between the beam and the column, as shown in the image.
Here is the step-by-step solution:
1. Select the beam component model. Then, in the contextual tab, choose Modify | Structural Framework. Inside the panel, click on the Edit Mode command to open the family editor.
2. Open the Concrete Rectangular Beam.rfa family file. In the Project Browser, navigate to View and under the floor plan list, open the Reference Elevation plan view.
3. Double-click the beam model to enter editing mode. Then, double-click the beam path to enter path editing mode, as illustrated in the image.
4. Align and lock the left and right endpoints of the beam path with the outer reference planes. If an error message appears, choose to delete the constraint, as shown in the example.
5. Complete the final path alignment as demonstrated.
6. Click the green check mark (✓) twice to exit editing mode. Then, in the Family Editor, use the Load into Project command to load the updated Concrete Rectangular Beam family back into your project.
7. After this, the beam endpoint will be positioned flush with the edge of the column, eliminating any gaps. If you receive a warning during loading, it can be safely ignored.
