Revit: Why Hiding Elements in One View Doesn’t Affect Others

BIM Software Tip: Revit

When you hide elements in a view, it does not automatically affect the master or slave views that are linked across your project.

Solution:

To ensure the same individual element is hidden across the parent object and all related views, follow these steps:

1. Use cross-selection boxes to select visible elements in all views. Note that this method only selects elements currently visible in each view.

2. If you have another view already open, maintain your selection and switch to the related or parent view.

3. Temporarily hide the selected element(s) in the current view.

4. At this point, you will notice the element is hidden only in this view but remains visible in others.

5. Select all these elements again and hide them permanently.

6. Finally, use the “Reset Temporary Hide/Isolate” command to clear any temporary visibility changes.
