BIM Software Tip: Summary of MEP New Features in Revit 2015 (Part 6)
Design: Component Code Setting
In Revit, you can select multiple components and use the Create Components command to combine them into assembly objects. This process allows you to quickly generate various views, part lists, schedules, and drawings related to the assemblies.
Each component type can be assigned a specific component code. These codes enable processing units to perform statistical analysis and manage data efficiently.
Note that component codes may differ depending on the manufacturer or relevant standards. These codes are stored in a plain TXT file format. In Revit 2015, you can find the setup under Management > Other Settings > Component Code.
The component code file can be opened and edited using a simple text editor like Notepad.
