BIM Software Tip: How to Fix Incorrect Scaling and Positioning of Recap Files When Importing into Navisworks
Issue:
When importing Recap (*.rcp) files into Navisworks, you might encounter problems with incorrect reference points, as well as improper scaling and orientation.
Cause:
This issue often arises due to regional settings related to decimal separators, especially when using non-English operating systems.
Our development team is currently investigating this behavior to provide a more permanent solution.
Solution:
To resolve this problem, please follow these steps:
- Open the Windows Control Panel and navigate to Region and Language.
- On the Format tab, click Other settings….
- In the Custom Format dialog box, go to the Number tab.
- Check the setting for the Decimal symbol. If it is set to a comma (
,), change it to a dot (.). - Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
After updating the decimal separator to a dot, try importing the RCP file into Navisworks again. This adjustment should correct the scaling and positioning issues.
