How to Fix Incorrect Scaling and Positioning of Recap Files in Navi Imports

BIM Software Tip: How to Fix Incorrect Scaling and Positioning of Recap Files When Importing into Navisworks

Issue:

When importing Recap (*.rcp) files into Navisworks, you might encounter problems with incorrect reference points, as well as improper scaling and orientation.

Cause:

This issue often arises due to regional settings related to decimal separators, especially when using non-English operating systems.

Our development team is currently investigating this behavior to provide a more permanent solution.

Solution:

To resolve this problem, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel and navigate to Region and Language.
  2. On the Format tab, click Other settings….
  3. In the Custom Format dialog box, go to the Number tab.
  4. Check the setting for the Decimal symbol. If it is set to a comma (,), change it to a dot (.).
  5. Click OK to close all dialog boxes.

After updating the decimal separator to a dot, try importing the RCP file into Navisworks again. This adjustment should correct the scaling and positioning issues.
