Setting Up Automatic Saving in Navisworks: A Step-by-Step Guide

BIM Software Tip: How to Enable Auto-Save in Navisworks

Many design and office applications, like AutoCAD and Word, come with automatic backup or saving features. Navisworks offers a similar functionality to help protect your work.

If Navisworks unexpectedly crashes or closes without saving, you can recover your progress by accessing the automatically saved backup files.

So, where are these backup files stored? Let’s find out.

By default, Navisworks saves auto-backup files in the following location:
C:Users[YourUsername]AppDataRoamingAutodeskNavisworks Manage 2015AutoSave

Note that the exact folder path may vary depending on your Navisworks version. You can also customize this location yourself.

To do this, simply go into the program’s options and either set a new directory or choose to save backups in the same folder as your main project file.

You can also verify the default file format used for auto-saved files in the settings.
