BIM Software Tip: How to Use REVIT for Practical Beam Connections
When modeling concrete beams, we often face issues with uncontrollable connections between beams and structural walls or columns due to automatic connection settings. For instance, beams may generate extra entities, preventing a clean and precise connection.
In such cases, the common solution is to use the face opening tool to cut away the unwanted areas.
However, starting with the 2015 version of REVIT, I discovered an additional command for beams—similar to the one used for walls—that allows you to control whether connections are permitted at the beam ends. This feature is illustrated in the image below.
This way, you can precisely control where beams connect, avoiding the automatic indentation and uncontrollable connection states that REVIT typically enforces.
