Revit Electrical Family: Surface Connector Components Explained

BIM Software Tip: REVIT Electrical Family Surface Connectors

When customizing electrical equipment in REVIT, the exact location and number of conduit outlets are often uncertain. Today, Xiao Z will introduce a special type of connector designed for electrical equipment conduit outlets — the surface connector.

Within an electrical equipment family, start by selecting the conduit connector command.

Typically, you need to select a face or establish a work plane to place the conduit connector, along with specifying its size.

This approach restricts the conduit center to the center of the selected face, and requires you to specify or parametrize the pipe diameter.

However, when you activate the Wire conduit connectors command, pay close attention to the options bar.

Besides individual connectors, there is an option for surface connectors. This allows you to place a connector on a device surface that can connect multiple conduits, without needing to set a specific pipe diameter.

As a result, when using this device family, you can draw multiple conduits of any diameter from any position on the designated surface.
