How to Prevent Damage to Your Revit Files

BIM Software Tip: Precautions to Prevent Revit File Damage

To minimize the risk of file corruption in Revit, consider the following precautions:

1. Always check the “Verify” option when opening a file.

2. Save your work regularly, and consider saving files under different names.

3. Periodically clean your files by using the “Clear Unused Items” function.

4. Perform manual backups outside of Revit’s automatic backup system.

5. Configure the number of backup files to keep within the file settings.

6. Set the maximum number of backups allowed under the “Save As” options.

7. Ensure your hard disk has at least 5GB of free space available.

8. Regularly clear the contents of your Windows temporary folders.

9. Keep Revit and all related drivers up to date with the latest versions.

10. Address any program errors promptly to prevent further issues.
