BIM Software Tip: How to Create a Hidden Frame Glass Curtain Wall in Revit
Curtain walls in Revit offer powerful functionality. Typically, the curtain walls we create are framed glass curtain walls, like the one shown below:
However, a hidden frame glass curtain wall is more commonly used in practical engineering projects, as illustrated in the image below:
Here is the method to create a hidden frame glass curtain wall:
The key idea is to use the inward offset of the mullion to achieve the hidden frame effect.
1. First, create a section view of the curtain wall in the plan. Measure the distance from the inner edge of the curtain wall to the outer edge of the mullion within this section.
2. Adjust the mullion offset distance—not within the curtain wall parameters, but using the mullion command itself.
Once these steps are completed, you will have successfully created a hidden frame glass curtain wall.
