Common Questions About Stairs in Revit

BIM Software Tip: Common Questions About Stairs in Revit

Have you noticed when modeling curved stairs in Revit that, by default, the stair type selected is “190mm maximum kick surface, 250mm ladder section”? The staircase created with this default setting looks fine, as shown in the image below:

However, sometimes the stairs you need are of a different type—specifically, “Integral pouring”. Naturally, many users try to replace the existing stair type with “Integral pouring”. While the type changes successfully, issues arise after the replacement, as illustrated in the following image. No matter how you adjust the parameters, the problem persists.

So, how do you resolve this issue? The key is to select the desired stair type before sketching the staircase. This approach prevents the problem from occurring in the first place. If you still encounter issues, try adjusting the parameters for stair step beam height and platform inclined beam height, which can help fix the problem.
