How Revit Manages Element Visibility in Linked Files

BIM Software Tip: How to Control the Visibility of Elements in Linked Files in Revit

At the early stages of project modeling, Revit links are commonly used to incorporate necessary models. For instance, when working on an electromechanical project that requires building models, how can you manage the visibility of these linked building models?

First, adjust the display settings of the linked model to Customize.

Next, select the category of elements you want to control, such as floor slabs.

For example, when linking a mechanical and electrical project to a building model, the grid lines within the building model often appear. You can control the visibility of these grids using the following method.

Open the Visibility Control Panel and set it to Customize.

Then, under the Annotation Categories, locate the Axis Network option and uncheck it. This will allow you to control the visibility of both the linked model and its grid.
