BIM Software Tip: Quickly create family instances of various sizes as needed
For most beginners, modeling often follows a basic approach. For example, when placing doors and windows, the template might only include one or two size options. To create sizes that aren’t available, users typically copy, rename, and modify parameters one by one in the type properties. This process can become tedious, especially when replicating dozens or even hundreds of different door and window sizes.
Here’s a useful tip for beginners: learn to use the “Clan” feature. Find the corresponding category, then simply copy, press F2 to rename, and double-click to modify parameters. By preparing families of doors, windows, walls, and other components with various sizes in advance, you can save a significant amount of time. See the example in the image below:
