BIM Software Tip: Techniques for Placing Corner Windows on a Revit Wall
Our goal is to fully embed a corner window into the wall so that after placement, all four sides of the corner window are cut out, leaving no wall around it. Achieving this in Revit is challenging because, according to the software’s drawing rules, it is not directly possible. However, there are alternative methods to try.
Method 1: Create corner windows as window families that are not hosted on walls. This way, they can be counted without affecting the wall geometry.
Method 2: Adjust the bottom edge of the corner window and the adjacent walls so that the window edges align perfectly with the walls. The remaining height of the top wall should be just 0.1mm higher than the window height to ensure a clean cut.
For standard windows, this issue does not usually arise because their openings are created using face-based openings. In contrast, corner windows use void cuts to create the opening, which requires more precise adjustments between the window and wall elements.
