BIM Software Tip: Sharing My Experience with Revit’s Site Function
1. The excavation and fill volumes are automatically calculated only when applied to a flat area within the terrain surface function.
2. Although building floors share similar appearance, creation, and editing methods with floor slabs, they have a unique automatic attachment feature to the terrain surface that floor slabs lack. For this reason, it is highly recommended to use Building Floor when creating outdoor flooring, building foundation slabs, and other components related to terrain surfaces.
3. Since split surfaces are independent of one another, re-editing their boundaries requires using the Edit Surface tool. This tool allows you to move elevation points but does not permit re-editing of the drawn boundary lines. Furthermore, adjacent surface boundaries must be edited in the same way to avoid gaps or overlaps between the surfaces.
