BIM Software Tip: Align Revit Link Origin with Project Origin
When I first started using Revit, aligning links involved selecting the center link, then entering the project grid to align the elevation. This process required adjusting each linked file individually, which could lead to errors, especially when working with many links. To avoid this, it’s better to use center alignment as described below.
Steps:
1. Create a new project.
2. Edit visibility settings to make the project base visible (the default base is set at 0,0,0).
3. Select all grids and move them so that the intersection point at the lower-left corner aligns with the project base point.
This approach applies to other templates as well, which follow the same alignment method. When linking files, selecting the origin point will automatically align with the project origin.
