Setting Room Area in Revit
1. When calculating room areas in Revit, the area is by default determined based on the interior wall boundaries.
2. To calculate the total area of a room, select the “Room and Area” tool. From the dropdown menu, choose “Area and Volume Calculation.” Within the room area calculation settings, change the option for wall boundary from “Wall Surface” to “Wall Centerline.”
3. At this stage, the room area will be calculated according to the column edges where columns are present.
To adjust this, select the column and uncheck the “Room Bounding” option in the properties panel. This setting will allow the total room area to be calculated correctly.
