BIM Software Tip: How to Reduce the Size of CAD Files
1. Once your drawing is complete, use the PURGE command to eliminate unnecessary data such as unused blocks, empty layers, linetypes, fonts, and dimension styles. This process effectively reduces the file size. For best results, run the PURGE command two to three times to ensure thorough cleanup.
2. Using -PURGE (with a minus sign) performs an even more comprehensive cleanup by removing additional redundant elements.
