BIM Software Tip: What to Do If Your CAD Is Infected
When I first heard about the CAD virus, I wasn’t sure what form it took or how it affected the software. Recently, after researching and learning more about this issue, I would like to share some insights about this mysterious CAD virus.
The CAD virus often presents itself with the error message: “Error: The input list is defective.” Reinstalling AutoCAD doesn’t fix the problem. This happens because every time you open a file, AutoCAD automatically generates a script file called acaddoc.lsp, which causes the program to run very slowly.
When the error “Error: The input list has a defect (CAD virus)” appears, you need to press ESC to cancel it before the AutoCAD menu becomes accessible.
How to fix the AutoCAD virus error: “The list entered incorrectly has defects”
Method 1:
1. Close AutoCAD completely.
2. Search for and delete all acaddoc.lsp files on your computer.
3. Find another computer with the same AutoCAD version that is not infected, and copy all *.lsp and *.mnl files from it. Overwrite the original files on your local machine, including those in the C drive user directory.
Method 2:
Check if your system contains suspicious files, especially in Windows system directories. Look for files such as:
hysoft*.dllKtCnPub*.dllRyClient.dllsx32w.dll
If you find these files outside of the software installation directory, delete them. Make sure to enable the option to search for hidden files during your search.
Additionally, verify that your Internet Explorer version is 6 or above, as this influences configuration files. Run the options command in AutoCAD, set the CAD configuration to <<Unnamed Configuration>>, then delete the HyAcs_52 configuration. After that, exit AutoCAD and reopen it to apply the changes.
