Today, the editor of the BIM Architecture Training Network will discuss the 4D dynamic management system for engineering projects based on BIM, aiming to exchange insights with you.
1) 4D Construction Progress Management: This feature uses the system’s WBS editor and process templates to quickly divide construction sections, create the WBS, and build schedules. It establishes a two-way link between the WBS and Microsoft Project. By integrating Project or 4D models, construction progress can be queried, adjusted, and controlled. Planned and actual progress are displayed using Gantt charts, network diagrams, and dynamic 3D graphics, enabling true 4D dynamic management of construction progress. Users can perform real-time queries on any WBS node or 3D construction section and component, compare multiple construction plans, track planned versus actual progress, and automatically generate various progress reports.
2) 4D Resource Dynamic Management: This function automatically calculates the quantities related to any WBS node or 3D construction section and component, including manpower, materials, machinery, and budget costs aligned with construction progress. It uses resource templates that support engineering pricing lists or multiple quota sets. The system provides statistical analysis and real-time queries on the completion status of engineering quantities, resource and cost plans, and actual consumption. Engineering quantity and resource usage tables are generated automatically, enabling effective 4D dynamic management of construction resources.
3) 4D Construction Quality and Safety Management: Construction and supervision teams can promptly input quality inspection and safety data. The system links quality and safety information or inspection reports to the 4D information model, allowing real-time queries of construction safety and quality status for any WBS node or 3D construction section and component. It also automatically produces statistical analysis reports on engineering quality and safety.
4) 4D Construction Site Management: This capability arranges 3D construction sites and automatically defines 4D attributes for construction facilities. By clicking on any facility entity, users can view construction attributes such as name, type, model, and planned installation time. The system supports information statistics on site facilities, correlating site layout with construction progress to form a comprehensive 4D dynamic on-site management approach.
5) 4D Construction Process Simulation: This tool simulates the entire project or selected WBS nodes across a 4D construction timeline. Simulations can be conducted at intervals of days, weeks, or months, either forward or backward in time. It visualizes the entire construction process based on planned or actual schedules, achieving 4D visualization simulation. Additionally, it offers realistic model display features including 3D roaming, material textures, transparency, and animation.
From these features, it is clear that the BIM 4D system offers real-time management capabilities for engineering projects, enhancing our proficiency in project management.
