Hengfeng Material Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. is a national high-tech company specializing in the production and R&D of advanced, eco-friendly transfer materials. The site is beautifully framed by the Fengjingtang River and a city leisure trail to the west and south, while the east and north sides are bordered by a pleasant 15-meter-wide urban landscape green belt.

A Street Where the Wind Dwells Brings Warmth to Contemporary Factories
At the outset, this factory design breaks away from the typical focus on efficiency and density. It centers around a main street that forms a spatial sequence, linking the main entrance, entrance plaza, office and R&D zones, leisure and sports areas, production facilities, and the riverside walking path outside the factory.

The buildings are designed to be scattered along the river, naturally forming open courtyards that face south toward the water. This organic integration between the main street and courtyards invites natural elements like wind, sunlight, rain, and dew into the factory grounds. This not only enhances lighting and ventilation but also fosters a sense of belonging among employees.
These streets and courtyards serve both aesthetic and social purposes, enriching the environment while providing eco-friendly communal spaces for workers to relax and interact.

The Warm Factory Inspired by Art Museums
Departing from traditional factory construction, this design draws on architectural techniques found in art museums—such as atmospheric spatial scales, sculptural forms, and the dynamic tension between virtual and real spaces—to create a poetic and artistic atmosphere.

The facade features a modern beige tone paired with a garden-like factory ambiance, perfectly aligning with the company’s focus on high-tech, eco-friendly materials. The design emphasizes a horizontal main line complemented by vertical secondary lines, creating a pure, clean, and sophisticated industrial aesthetic.

The Fusion of Industry and Art
The factory’s metal pipelines are seamlessly integrated into the artistic facade under the shade of green trees. Circular metal pipes weave freely among the beige buildings, creating a striking contrast between the reflective metal surfaces and the matte beige paint. This interplay highlights a unique collision between industrial functionality and artistic expression.

The entrance canopy features exposed, rough large-span concrete beams that convey a strong industrial rhythm. This contrasts sharply with the glass office building and the white factory walls, creating a compelling dialogue between industrial strength and artistic beauty.

Crafting Details to Express Artistic Texture
The design incorporates art museum techniques such as form cutting, tilted facades, and stacked blocks. These elements interact with sunlight to create three-dimensional, layered light and shadow effects that enrich the building’s sculptural quality and finesse.

Exterior windows are framed with protruding concrete, preventing sagging while adding depth and dimension to the facade. The window’s vertical metal frames are slim—only 3 centimeters wide—and extend 1 centimeter beyond the horizontal frames, resulting in a delicate, three-dimensional effect.

Resting Eyes on the Outside View When Feeling Tired
The design thoughtfully considers workers’ perspectives, allowing them to look up from their work and enjoy the beautiful scenery beyond the windows. The entrance lobby of the R&D office features a transparent glass curtain wall that brings the courtyard landscape indoors.

The surrounding municipal trees, which reach 8-10 meters high, offer picturesque treetop and blue sky views from the third floor. To maximize this, a riverside viewing terrace and leisure platform (currently being renovated) were built on the third floor. Walking onto this terrace, the rooftop garden atop the entrance canopy blends seamlessly with the green treetops, blue sky, and white clouds, creating a harmonious connection between nature and the workplace—an effective way to alleviate work fatigue.
