Facing the challenge of rising land values, the creation of tiered gardens explores how multi-level design evolves. It aims to craft unique spaces within a multi-tenant complex, integrating nature into the built environment even in relatively compact areas. This design iteration highlights RAD+ar’s crucial and evolving role in optimizing spatial liquidity.

The design integrates architectural elements such as roofs, facades, walls, diagonal overhangs, and furniture, adopting a modern style that harmonizes with the tropical commercial district environment. Natural light, greenery, scenic views, and natural materials are incorporated to enrich the sensory experience.
Orientation is carefully planned north-south to preserve existing green vegetation in the backyard. This approach expands the spatial experience by creating a ventilation corridor connecting large trees at both ends. However, maintaining the green plant design also introduces challenges for optimizing multi-level commercial space usage.

To overcome these challenges, structural elements are integrated into spatial planning. This design seamlessly connects the front and rear gardens, diagonally linking three key areas: the ground-floor restaurant, the mezzanine bar, and the rooftop beer garden.
This integration of diverse spatial experiences ensures coherence throughout the development project.

Gardens are strategically placed between spaces to facilitate smooth, seamless transitions between different materials and components. This approach not only creates visually appealing designs but also enhances the overall user experience.
The structural design focuses on minimizing material use and energy consumption through careful assessment of load-bearing capacities and efficient construction techniques. Additionally, decorative materials were selected with consideration for environmental impact, favoring sustainable options.

By emphasizing integration and sustainability, the design achieves a harmonious balance between functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.
This meticulous design approach ensures that all elements and components work together seamlessly, fostering consistency across functionality, aesthetics, environment, sustainability, and user experience. The result is a high-quality, effective space where every aspect complements the other.

Aruma Layered Garden is among RAD+ar’s notable projects, demonstrating their dedication to promoting sustainability in commercial developments. Their work serves as an inspiration for developers in emerging markets, such as Indonesia, encouraging them to adopt sustainable practices.
By integrating sustainable features and educating building users and residents about these practices, the project fosters responsible behaviors and a stronger commitment to sustainability, driving progress toward sustainable development.
