Designed by Safdi Architects, the mixed-use complex of Platinum Residence and the Singapore Addison Hotel offers a peaceful retreat amid the bustling Orchard Road commercial district in Singapore. This development features two 28-story residential towers alongside the newly opened 204-room Addison Hotel.
Specializing in residential projects that foster close contact with nature in densely populated urban environments, Safdi Architects continue their innovative contributions to Singapore’s skyline. Following landmark projects like Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Changi Airport, the Platinum Residence and Singapore Addison Hotel stand as their latest achievement.

Unlike typical hotel-residential complexes, the Platinum Residence and Singapore Addison Hotel share the same site while maintaining distinct identities. The design integrates multiple levels of private and public entertainment spaces, ranging from the hotel’s ground floor to the top floors of the residences. This approach balances the unique experiences of both residents and hotel guests, ensuring privacy while fostering connections between people and the city.
– Moses Safdi, Founder of Safdi Architects

The sunken garden, densely planted and forming an internal courtyard, acts as both a connection and a boundary between the hotel and the residential towers. Surrounded on three sides by gardens, the hotel offers views of this courtyard and landscaped terrace from its lobby, restaurant, and first-floor bar.
Conference rooms, banquet halls, and underground-style bars located on the lower level open directly onto the courtyard, allowing guests to seamlessly move between indoor and outdoor spaces and experience varied social settings.
On the ninth floor, a pedestrian bridge resembling flowing blue and green ribbons connects the two residential towers. This bridge features a 43-meter swimming pool, sun deck, outdoor bar, and lounge areas, all surrounded by lush vegetation. An acrylic transparent window at the center of the pool bottom provides guests with stunning views of the garden courtyard below.

“The core concept behind this project is unexpected openness. We aimed to create a sanctuary within Singapore’s busiest commercial district.”
– Jaron Lubin, Senior Partner at Safdi Architects

To ensure guest comfort and privacy, Safdi Architects developed an innovative outdoor curtain wall system tailored to Singapore’s tropical climate. Guests can adjust the outdoor shading panels via controls beside their beds, allowing personalized light control that transforms the hotel’s facade throughout the day.
Partnering with Ian Schrager, one of the founders of the Edison Hotel brand, Safdi Architects collaborated with the Edison design team to harmonize the building’s architectural style with its interior design. Neutral tones and abundant natural elements enhance the building’s simple exterior, emphasizing lush greenery and natural light.

“Through our collaboration with Ian Schrager on the Addison Hotel and with Urban Development Limited on the Platinum Residence, we achieved a design that makes both residents and guests feel at home. This rich, diverse, and exquisite architectural work adds vitality to Singapore’s iconic neighborhood.”
– Charu Kokate, Senior Partner at Safdi Architects

The private entrance for Platinum Residence residents is located on the opposite side of the hotel. Supported by a series of tall columns, the lowest residential units are elevated above the Edison Hotel, preserving privacy in a limited space and offering a unique living experience.
Guided by Moses Safdi’s design philosophy, “One person, one garden,” each unit features spacious balconies filled with greenery. The staggered balcony layout visually extends the building’s facade width and height. Sliding doors and adjustable windows ensure ample natural light and ventilation inside.

The rooftop sky garden spans both 28-story towers, offering extensive amenities and spacious areas. Residents can enjoy panoramic views of the city from indoor and outdoor lounges or the infinity pools.
One side of the sky garden features an infinity pool overlooking the hotel courtyard below. The garden’s bridge truss supports four luxurious rooftop apartments, each with a private pool and unique city views.
