The newly completed Nansha International Financial Forum (IFF) permanent venue is situated at the tip of Mingzhu Bay on Hengli Island, Hengli Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou. The total construction area spans 260,000 square meters. From October 27 to 29, 2023, this impressive venue will make its debut by hosting the IFF Global Annual Meeting, shining like a brilliant “kapok flower” blooming under the night sky.

01. International Vision

The IFF permanent venue comprises several distinct buildings, including the IFF International Convention Center, the International Conference Service Center (hotel), and support facilities. It caters to all conference requirements such as meetings, banquets, receptions, accommodation, and services. Additionally, it reserves spaces for exhibitions, media centers, and other high-end features to support the entire high-level conference process.

The venue includes two large halls each measuring 3,000 square meters, two halls of 1,800 square meters, and over 40 small to medium-sized conference rooms of various sizes. These spaces can be flexibly combined or separated to accommodate meetings of different scales.

Throughout the entire process, advanced international technologies such as digital visual design and dynamic structural monitoring were employed to ensure precise spatial positioning of steel structures and curtain walls. The digital model incorporates over 14,000 tons of steel, more than 40,000 square meters of metal curtain wall materials, approximately 7,000 square meters of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC), and nearly 20,000 square meters of PTFE film along with other innovative building materials.

02. Chinese Style Design

The design embraces the grandeur of traditional Chinese architecture while integrating the organic form of kapok flowers. The building’s entrance is centrally positioned, with two wings extending horizontally. The undulating roof resembles flowers blooming over the sea or a mighty Peng bird spreading its wings. Architectural elements abstractly express traditional Chinese symbols, such as cornices that curve toward the universe, upward-turning wing corners, and wooden archways.

03. Lingnan Style Design

Inspired by the Lingnan arcade, the design incorporates an elevated semi-outdoor space that continues the regional architectural context. To adapt to the local climate, the building features traditional Lingnan layouts with alternating open and enclosed alleys for natural ventilation. Transparent, open ship halls are interspersed among the volumes, allowing ample natural light and airflow inside. Hanging PTFE films beneath the long skylight resemble delicate curtains, gently diffusing light. The tall cable-stayed glass curtain wall connects to the skylight, framing picturesque views within the building. The design details reflect the grand, simple, and unique charm typical of the Lingnan region.
