Shanghai Lifeng Plaza YOUNG PARK, designed by San Yi, has recently undergone an update and officially opened to the public. This key project, a collaboration among prominent brands and platforms including Fengshi Group, Hongyi Investment, and Hongyuan Asset, is set to become a vibrant hub for innovation and entrepreneurship within Magic City. From design excellence to operational services, it stands at the forefront of its kind.
The development thoughtfully integrates diverse spaces such as offices, retail areas, and green public zones, blending elements of art, technology, ecology, and fashion to create fresh experiences in work, living, and social interaction.
01 Prime Location: The New Vitality Center of Caohejing Development Zone
Caohejing plays a significant role as part of Shanghai’s Science and Technology Innovation Center. Recognized by the State Council as an economic and technological development zone, a high-tech industrial park, and an export processing zone, it hosts numerous advanced enterprises and research institutions.
Located in the core of this high-tech innovation hub in Xuhui District, Shanghai, Lifeng Plaza YOUNG PARK is a major urban renewal project within the Caohejing Development Zone.

△ Project Location
The site is positioned at the northeast corner of Yishan Road and Hechuan Road, adjacent to Hechuan Road Station on Metro Line 9, ensuring excellent transport links. Originally a Hong Kong-funded beverage canning factory in the 1990s, the area was transformed into a modern office park covering approximately 43,818 square meters.
San Yi was commissioned to undertake a secondary renovation of the western section, including the former factory office building, dormitories, canteens, warehouses, and other auxiliary structures—breaking previous constraints and exploring new possibilities.

Before Renovation
02 Eco-Friendly Design: 3,000 ㎡ Expansive Aerobic Lawn
This project stands out as one of the few park renovations in Caohejing focusing on dining, leisure, and office functions. The planning embraces the concept of “ecological boundarylessness,” aiming to maximize green public spaces accessible to the community.

Green public spaces open to visitors
The design takes full advantage of the large green areas next to the subway station on the south side of Building 4 by opening up existing walls, creating a welcoming public green space. Additionally, the open-air parking lot between Buildings 5 and 8 has been converted into a public green area.
As a result, Lifeng Plaza YOUNG PARK boasts two expansive lawns exceeding 3,000 square meters combined, making it one of the rare open parks in the Caohejing area and western Shanghai, vastly surpassing other comparable parks in public space.

△ Master Plan
These two large green public spaces offer ample outdoor areas for planning, hosting, and managing various activities within the park. They provide ideal venues for cultural and creative markets, festivals, parties, and corporate promotional events, all set against the backdrop of renovated park buildings.

03 Facade Renovation: Blending Shanghai Style with Modern Aesthetics
Lifeng Plaza YOUNG PARK integrates traditional Shanghai style with contemporary design, respecting the unique shapes and volumes of existing buildings while reflecting the city’s cultural heritage. This approach sets it apart from the predominantly modern architectural styles in the Caohejing area, infusing the environment with romantic artistic flair.

A fresh architectural style infused with romantic artistic atmosphere
The design incorporates traditional elements like red brickwork and arched porches, paired with white paint and champagne-gold aluminum panels. Each building’s distinct form is addressed with tailored renovation plans, creating street-facing and lawn-facing facades that share a unified design logic yet maintain unique characteristics, revitalizing the entire park.

Each building follows a unified design logic while preserving distinct features
Building 3, formerly an office building facing Yishan Road, serves as a key visual element for the park. Its design highlights the original facade by incorporating a striking rose window made of red bricks and green glass. The traditional staircase facade has been replaced with a bold glass brick structure that is transparent by day and vibrant by night.

Building 4 uses its original “large top, small bottom” layout to introduce a red brick colonnade along the south lawn side, breathing new life into the structure. The east entrance incorporates diagonal facade elements to form a new vertical elevator lobby.

Building 8, situated in the northwest corner of the factory area, was originally a warehouse. With the conversion of its southern parking lot into public green space, it now faces the park’s large lawn and serves as a focal point. The design boldly removes the original solid facade facing the lawn, replacing it with a transparent glass curtain wall. Beige aluminum alloy square tubes reshape the flat roof into a dreamy sloped form, revitalizing the old structure.

04 YOUNG LIFE Officially Launches
On November 8th, Hongyi Investment (Shanghai) held the inauguration of its new office at Lifeng Plaza YOUNG PARK. As the project’s designer, Mr. Lin Jun, Vice President of San Yi, was invited to attend the ceremony and celebrate this exciting new beginning.

Looking ahead, Lifeng Plaza YOUNG PARK is expected to become a shining gem in Shanghai’s Caohejing area—a unique platform integrating science, technology, culture, creativity, and ecology, offering an exceptional experience for work, life, and social engagement.
