SKP has established numerous industry firsts, including being the top-ranked department store worldwide. SKP-S locations in Beijing and Xi’an have set new standards in innovation. Now, Chengdu SKP integrates an above-ground park landscape with sunken luxury retail spaces, embracing a nature-friendly design philosophy. This fusion of fashion, technology, art, and design marks a new milestone in high-end retail and urban development.
In Chengdu SKP, natural ecology is seamlessly blended with the SKP and SKP-S environments. Here, urban parks and underground structures are thoughtfully integrated. Chengdu SKP is a key Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) project, where four subway lines intersect, creating a major transportation hub. This hub innovatively combines underground luxury retail with above-ground ecological parks, achieving a harmonious and integrated development.
Reflecting on its role as SKP’s architectural design partner, Sybarite drew inspiration from the Chinese character for “rice” to craft SKP’s brand identity. This concept was combined with the traditional eaves of ancient Chinese temples to create the distinctive “SKP curve,” a core architectural element present throughout all SKP locations. This design feature instantly immerses visitors in SKP’s brand world, and it is prominently and cleverly integrated into Chengdu SKP.
The later-developed SKP-S redefined traditional retail, elevating it to new heights by creating extraordinary experiences. For example, SKP-S in Beijing offers a “move to Mars” lifestyle experience, while SKP-S in Xi’an presents a narrative of Earth’s destruction and rebirth.
Chengdu SKP-S has been transformed into a utopian “parallel world,” a place that fosters lifelong human exploration while promoting a balanced lifestyle for visitors. Each SKP-S location serves as both an independent chapter and part of a captivating collective journey. It acts as a brand laboratory and playground for retail and consumption, fulfilling the innate human desire for continuous discovery.
Chengdu SKP offers a variety of coexisting experiences waiting to be explored. The design metaphor of a “parallel world” is reflected through the entrance from the ground-level park connecting 33 natural landscapes inspired by brocade patterns. This design invites customers to discover new pathways and unique experiences with every visit. The grand ecological park above ground and the sunken architectural spaces below create two interconnected worlds. From top to bottom, it feels like descending into a deep canyon — where retail, dining, lifestyle, art, and experiential elements continuously unfold in diverse and engaging ways, all connected by a consistent design theme. Under this shared ecological landscape, diversity and possibilities come to life.
Chengdu SKP embodies both individuality and coexistence. Within the parallel world crafted by Sybarite, every detail is meticulously designed, guiding customers on a journey that bridges modernity and avant-garde between SKP and SKP-S.
