This residential project, designed for a family of four, is situated in a densely populated neighborhood in central Tokyo. Despite the small plot size, uneven terrain, and strict shading regulations, the client desired a spacious living environment. The architect successfully created a more open space than initially expected.

By incorporating staggered layers across different zones, the design achieves a continuous three-dimensional space characterized by horizontal variation and depth. The architects prioritized open interior spaces while minimizing exposure to the surrounding dense residential area.
The dining room, living room, and terrace all feature a dynamic three-dimensional quality. Skylights allow natural sunlight to filter into the interior, creating a sensory experience that transcends the physical boundaries of the space.

Furthermore, the staggered design creates a large cantilever structure that provides parking and shaded areas beneath. This not only enhances functionality but also encourages neighborhood interaction and offers a distinctive, aesthetically pleasing façade for the city.
