Architectural studio Heri& Sali won the concept competition for the “Multi-functional townhouse” in the city of Aspen Sester with their project titled Forum am Seebogen. This building complex will be situated on the H7A plot in the “Am Seebogen” area of Seestadt, Vienna’s New District, covering an area of 800 square meters.

Heri& Sali partnered with the art-focused agency halanx, which specializes in residential construction, to design a cultural and urban landscape. Collaborating with landscape architects Paisagista Liz Zimmermann and Strobl Bau GmbH, they developed a project that fosters a vibrant and diverse symbiosis between living, working, and cultural exchange.
Emphasizing modular system design, this initiative aims to create a modern prototype that delivers high-quality living spaces at a relatively low cost and within a short timeframe.

The permeable ground area functions as a central forum open to various users, fulfilling the essential role of building land in this highly central location while also embracing a strong public character. Serving as the focal point for revitalizing the neighborhood, the building’s ground floor is programmatically modularized.

In the short term, the architecture offers a temporary platform for artists and cultural workers. In the long term, it is designed to become a cultural institution and a temporary hotspot for IBAWien 2022.
By creating innovative exhibition spaces and outdoor city models, visitors can engage with the development of Seestadt in a more dynamic way. Attractive outdoor amenities and functional spaces gradually extend towards the lakeside promenade, encouraging visitors to come, linger, and interact.

The upper floors are composed of prefabricated basic modules featuring various housing types and configurations. These modules, along with expansion options, allow for diverse possibilities based on the spatial and terrace connections required.
Smaller units can serve as mini laboratories, micro workspaces, or shared infrastructure, integrating seamlessly into the building’s structure, similar to the top-level activity areas.
