The Ventspils Center for Science and Innovation seamlessly integrates architecture with the surrounding landscape. Rather than establishing a new landmark along the bridge axis, the architect focused on creating an open and welcoming environment. The shapes of the buildings and hills complement each other, with the science district rising naturally from the plain. New public spaces, including outdoor rooftop platforms and observation decks, are designed to serve both locals and visitors.

The architectural layout divides the site into two main sections. On the west side, there is a vehicle passage and parking area, while visitors enter the building through the southern entrance. The eastern part of the site resembles a natural hill, serving as a space for picnics and outdoor activities with unobstructed views of the river. This ‘hill’ also leads visitors to the rooftop terrace and connects to public facilities on the ground floor, including a café, conference hall, and access to the main auditorium.

Ascending the curved rooftop offers panoramic views of the open sky, deepening visitors’ appreciation of both the architecture and the cityscape. Functionally, the building is divided into two zones: the science center occupies the lower levels, and the innovation center rises across the top six floors.
