Walking through the Zazil residence evokes a rich tapestry of emotions and sensory experiences. The gentle breeze flows through the site’s vegetation, serving as the primary source of soothing sounds. The textures of the materials—from the rough stones to the warm wood—imbue the environment with varied tones and aromas. Entering the home sparks curiosity, inviting visitors to explore each successive spatial experience.

The residence is designed as a shelter with a “C”-shaped floor plan. This layout protects inhabitants from Colima’s climate and direct sunlight while preserving privacy. The architectural scheme is thoughtfully organized to foster intimacy. Although the rear facade opens up to the outdoors, this openness contrasts with the otherwise private atmosphere.

Variation in building heights connects the different spaces, helping to distinguish areas that are inviting and private from those designed for social interaction. The two-story high hall marks the start of the residential journey, creating a more intimate floor plan that encourages residents to explore the rooms sequentially.

The design splits the residence into two prominent blocks and floors with clear zoning. The social areas are located on the ground floor, offering refreshing views of the golf course and surrounding vegetation. These plants artfully blend into the spaces they inhabit. A large leafy flower tree integrates seamlessly into the landscape, standing out while harmonizing with the surrounding greenery.

The upper floor houses the bedrooms, known for their warm ambiance created by simple woodworking elements. Natural light pours through the windows in succession, enhancing the rooms with a pleasant glow. From here, residents can enjoy stunning views of tree canopies and the horizon.

The choice of construction materials creates a harmonious dialogue between light and heavy elements. The massive stone volume appears to meet the ceiling with exquisite precision. The ceiling itself, composed of wooden beams and steel structures, symbolizes warm architecture while aligning with modern social standards.

The beauty of the stone lies not only in its impressive size and durability but also in the craftsmanship behind its design. The presence of the Colima volcano enriches the project with diverse textures. This locally sourced material, crafted by local artisans, ensures a fresh and authentic atmosphere for the residents.

The project’s completion is reflected in every detail. The materials retain their pure, natural state, harmoniously blending with the passage of time and the surrounding environment.
