Traditional engineering construction requires the owner to assign a dedicated person for site inspection, which is both time-consuming and labor-intensive. This approach limits the ability of all parties involved to conduct real-time, comprehensive monitoring of the construction site. Supervisors often rely on subjective assessments with delayed responses, making it difficult to scientifically, promptly, and accurately monitor safety incidents during construction. Additionally, traditional safety education methods for on-site personnel tend to be dull and lack practical relevance.

BIM-based construction quality management enables remote, real-time monitoring by integrating a video surveillance system that uploads live data on personnel, materials, equipment, and environmental conditions at the construction site to a centralized monitoring platform. By comparing the on-site quality data with preset quality standards, potential risks can be identified promptly, allowing for proactive measures to prevent issues before they arise.
During the detailed design phase, site mapping elements and construction machinery data are added to the BIM model. This model is linked to an external quality index database, creating hyperlinks between various components and related documentation within the BIM environment. This integration enhances the visualization of site management tasks, facilitates early hazard detection, and supports the implementation of targeted safety protections. Additionally, quality disclosure videos are produced and presented to construction personnel during quality meetings to raise awareness and prevent problems.
Throughout the construction process, digital monitoring technologies continuously track the site in real time. The quality data collected is constantly compared against BIM model quality indicators, triggering alerts when unsafe conditions approach. This system allows management teams to monitor construction progress live, anticipate safety risks, and respond swiftly to any accidents, ensuring a safer work environment.
