While BIM technology has brought considerable advantages to project construction, many companies remain concerned about the high costs associated with its implementation. To address these concerns, several regions have introduced specific fee standards and guidelines for BIM usage. Let’s take Shanxi as an example and explore the details below.
Scope of BIM Application
The pricing reference for Building Information Modeling (BIM) service fees applies mainly to new construction projects, municipal engineering, rail transit projects, and underground comprehensive pipe gallery engineering within the province. Renovation, expansion projects, and other types of developments may refer to these pricing guidelines as appropriate.

Cost Pricing Explanation
1. The BIM technology application service fee is calculated by multiplying the pricing basis by the unit price or rate.
2. For building construction projects with an area less than 10,000 square meters, the fee is based on a minimum pricing area of 10,000 square meters. Similarly, for municipal engineering, rail transit, and comprehensive pipe gallery projects with construction and installation costs below 100 million yuan, the fee is calculated based on a minimum cost of 100 million yuan.
3. The base price table covers fees for both single-stage and three-stage BIM application services. When both stages are provided concurrently, the fee is calculated at 75% of the combined total of the two single-stage fees.
4. Due to variations in project complexity, scale, and standards for materials and equipment, the difficulty of applying BIM technology services may cause the fee to fluctuate by up to 20%.
