Mirai House is situated on the corner of a villa residential area, spanning 622 square meters. This contextual residence is designed to respond to the hot desert climate of Rajasthan, India. Due to its geographical location, the house has limited openings on the south and east sides to allow for future residential development adjacent to these areas. The north and west sides face a road intersection, featuring more open spaces such as gardens and mature trees on the property.

Designed for a three-generation family, this three-story residence includes four bedrooms, two living rooms, a gym, and a study. The sectional layout features varied ceiling heights: bedrooms have single-story ceilings, the dining room boasts double-height space, and the living room sits at a mid-level height of 1.5 floors, creating dynamic spatial volumes throughout the home.
A curved, textured exterior wall envelops the house, forming a continuous semi-open space along the perimeter and deeper open areas facing the garden on either side. This unique wall design not only provides shade and reduces heat gain but also enhances outdoor living spaces adjacent to each room.

The external wall’s design is specifically tailored to mitigate heat gain, addressing the region’s hot and dry climate. During summers, when temperatures soar above 40°C for up to eight months, this sculptural wall helps maintain a cool interior. The residence harmonizes with the local environment and climate while meeting the owners’ needs, offering distinctive spatial volumes and a combination of enclosed, open, and semi-enclosed spaces on each floor.

The Future Home’s design focuses on energy efficiency by reducing thermal gain and allowing indirect natural light into each room. Constructed with local bricks, sandstone, and lime paste, the project was realized through collaboration with local craftsmen and nearby contractors. Sustainable features include a water circulation system, rainwater harvesting, and solar panels, ensuring climate responsiveness and eco-friendly living.
