From a modeling perspective, BIM uses digital information technology to simulate real building information. This includes not only three-dimensional geometric data but also extensive non-geometric information such as materials, weights, costs, and progress status of building components.
From a usage standpoint, BIM acts as a tool for all project stakeholders to guide and monitor engineering activities by leveraging construction project information. Throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects, BIM serves as a technical platform that enables collaboration and project management among all involved parties.
BIM technology employs a unified building information model. All participants — including owners, designers, reviewers, constructors, product vendors, and operators — contribute various engineering and design data to this single model at different project stages. As a result, BIM models contain a vast and diverse range of information, such as:
1) Design information: component dimensions, material composition, fire ratings, and more;
2) Production information: product codes, model specifications, functional purposes, etc.;
