BIM Architecture: Guangzhou Guangwu Yuzhu Production City Complex by UA You'an Design in the Lingjiang Youke Era

Respecting the natural environment of the site is our fundamental principle.

We aim to improve urban functionality and enhance spatial temperature.

Our vision is to honor the rich history of the fish pearl industry in this area,

while witnessing the dynamic development of Guangzhou’s Binjiang district as we set sail into the future.

Located along the Pearl River in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District, this project embodies the spirit of a city thriving alongside its port—”the city prospers with the port, and the port serves the city.” Positioned at the heart of the second CBD, near Poly Yuzhu Port, it reflects the local culture steeped in “ports, docks, and sailing vessels.”

The development integrates premium Grade A office spaces, a five-star hotel, creative offices, and boutique retail centers, creating a diverse, trendy, and vibrant new landmark for the Yuzhu area.

Design Concept

The design extends the historical narrative of the ‘freight terminal’ through the concept of ‘a single sail gliding over blue waves.’ This vision integrates planned transportation hubs and urban parks to create a visual corridor that highlights the iconic tower.

The podium centers around a shopping mall that embodies arcade culture, fostering continuous interaction with neighboring plots and cultivating a high-quality community ecosystem.

The implementation of a three-dimensional garden maximizes spatial transparency, promotes public openness in urban spaces, and revitalizes regional growth.

The tower’s design draws inspiration from technology, evoking the image of iconic sails. By segmenting and intertwining the tower’s volumes, its verticality is accentuated, creating a cohesive and unified architectural language.

The facade is thoughtfully shaped with cuts along the main viewing angles, forming a shuttle-shaped volume that reduces the imposing presence of the skyscraper within the cityscape.

Logical Analysis of the Tower’s Sail Composition

The facade’s texture employs a “horizontal hidden, vertical visible” approach to emphasize the building’s upright posture.

Bold curtain wall borderlines and varied materials enhance the building’s distinctiveness, while the gradual blending of lights at night further solidifies its unique identity.

In typical high-rise office buildings, natural ventilation and facade aesthetics often conflict. Here, the design cleverly conceals operable fans behind perforated aluminum panels, balancing facade integrity with ventilation needs.

This solution enhances user flexibility in ventilation choices, improves comfort, and significantly reduces the building’s energy consumption.

South Facade Rendering of Commercial Linkage

Drawing on a global vision to create a vibrant riverside business district, the podium design integrates diagonal elements that unify the tower and podium facades, envisioning a “future ark.”

Streamlined forms lend dynamism to the podium, while simultaneously lightening and diversifying the tower’s silhouette.

Elegant Business Office Facade

The design fulfills upper-level planning requirements by incorporating an arcade style on the building’s south side, which extends to the east and west and aligns with the third visual corridor.

This creates a “calm north, dynamic south” urban atmosphere and forms a rain-free space on the sixth facade that covers the entire site.

The hotel’s main facade responds thoughtfully to the need for scenic views.

The hotel podium seamlessly connects the drop-off area with the arcade’s rain-free space through a dynamic, curved canopy. The two-story colonnade at the entrance, combined with futuristic linear lighting, enriches the space’s atmosphere and extends the lobby experience outward.

Central U-Shaped Square Rendering

The buildings within the site, together with two urban visual corridors, form a U-shaped enclosed shared garden that connects to the riverside park. This design enhances urban permeability to the Pearl River landscape and fosters a dynamic interaction between the city’s views and its inhabitants.

Public spaces—including offices, hotels, and commercial areas—face this garden, improving continuity and pedestrian comfort, while incorporating clear signage.

The vertical roof spaces are ingeniously designed as public areas, providing refined atmospheres for business exchanges, negotiations, and banquets.

From the outset, the project establishes a modern and refined tone, combining a clean vertical tower texture with a smoothly flowing podium design. Together, these elements evoke the impression of a grand ship ready to set sail along the riverside.

The podium’s tangible form contrasts with the tower’s delicate curtain wall, reflecting the Eastern philosophy of balancing reality and illusion.

Extending the Urban Development Narrative

This design honors the urban fabric and continues the pursuit of creating high-quality, integrated clusters within the area. Embracing a theme that is futuristic, technological, and ecological, the project establishes a cohesive family of buildings that meet functional requirements while becoming regional landmarks.
