The Ningbo Academician Center is situated at the southern base of Taogong Mountain on the west bank of Dongqian Lake, an area known for its rich history and stunning scenery. Overlooking the lake with expansive views, the site is adjacent to three historic cultural villages: Taogong, Jianshe, and Limin, each contributing to a distinctive land use pattern.
Built on the former grounds of Ningbo Normal University, a renowned historic institution, the project revitalizes and expands the architectural space. Inspired by the concept of “mountains, waters, villages, halls, corridors, and residences,” the design seamlessly blends natural landscapes with cultural and artistic elements.
This integration creates a world-class international academician center designed to support the needs of academicians in scientific research, innovation, exchange, and discussion. With its high quality, rigorous standards, and strategic positioning, the center acts as a driving force for the advancement of science, technology, culture, and the economy across the Dongqian Lake region and Ningbo city.

The renovation design of the cultural venues maintains the harmonious and organic relationship between the original campus layout and the surrounding landscape environment. Four main buildings extend along the forest belt: the east and west main buildings anchor the ends, while the visitor center and Tao Gong Lecture Hall sit at the center.
These buildings are interconnected through landscaped corridors and towers, providing panoramic views of the lake and mountains.

The ecological renewal focuses on adapting to the existing terrain and landforms. This includes restoring topography and vegetation, enhancing landscape integration, weaving spatial textures, optimizing transportation networks, and preserving the harmonious coexistence between mountains, water, and villages.

The five main functional zones form a comprehensive cultural architectural community that supports sustainable economic growth and social adaptability.

The updated rural tourism design reshapes the spatial structure and spirit of the mountain, water, village, and school settlements. It fosters regional connectivity, functional complementarity, and shared facilities with historic villages and the Taogong Island scenic area.
Leveraging the Ningbo Academician Cluster, the project establishes a hub for industrial intelligence and innovation. It has become a new cultural tourism attraction and a catalyst for rural revitalization, transformation, and development.

The Ningbo Academician Center project combines architectural renovation, memory space reconstruction, and the integration of old and new. It merges an intelligent innovation platform with landscape tourism and rural revitalization, achieving sustainable spatial regeneration for the future.
