Fujimoto Shosuke Architectural Firm has unveiled its development plan for the eastern center of Hida Furukawa Station. Situated in Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, the project aims to establish a vibrant community center that enriches the cultural life of local residents. This facility will feature a university research base, student dormitories, sports fields, and commercial spaces.

Spanning 21,300 square meters, this project draws inspiration from the unique natural environment of Hida City and integrates elements of both traditional and modern Japanese design. The building’s distinctive bowl shape, known as Utsuwa in Japanese, symbolizes diversity and inclusiveness. Its sunken roof is covered with meadows and greenery, while complex pathways connect various areas, echoing the urban texture of traditional Japanese towns.

Located adjacent to Hidakugawa Station, this project is poised to become a new urban landmark that attracts visitors and tourists. Its layered functional zones offer spaces for everyone, encouraging integration and social interaction.
The bowl-shaped roof features hollowed-out sections that create sunken courtyards, framing unique views of the sky and surrounding scenery for visitors.
