Mastering BIM: How to Define and Customize Command Aliases in AutoCAD

BIM skills | How to define CAD command aliases? How to customize command aliases in AutoCAD

Question:

How to customize command shortcuts in AutoCAD using the acad.pgp file and Express Tools?

Environment:

Windows operating system

Solution:

To modify command aliases in AutoCAD, please follow the instructions provided in the link below:

Editing Program Parameter (PGP) Files | AutoCAD (acad.pgp)

Alternatively, you can customize shortcut keys using the CUI command.

After making changes, restart AutoCAD to apply them, or use the REINIT command to reload the acad.pgp file without restarting.

Note: When editing the acad.pgp or acadlt.pgp file directly, it is recommended to add your custom keyboard shortcuts in the “User Defined Command Aliases” section at the end of the file. This ensures your custom shortcuts take precedence over the default ones without modifying existing entries.
