Question:
When trying to open a DXF file in AutoCAD, the program unexpectedly closes, sometimes resulting in fatal errors.
Cause:
The DXF file may be corrupted.
Conflicts with third-party applications can also cause this issue.

Solutions:
If the issue is related to the file itself, please try the following:
- Obtain a new copy of the DXF file from the original source application.
- Try exporting or saving a fresh DXF copy from the original DWG file. Note that blocks with spaces in their names within the DXF may be flagged as corrupted by AutoCAD. Since DXF files are text-based, open the file in a text editor and remove any spaces from block names.
- Insert DXF as a block:
- Open a new, empty DWG file.
- Insert the DXF file as a block and then explode it.
- Save the file as either DXF or DWG, based on your needs.
If the problem is not file-related, consider these steps:
- Ensure you have installed the latest AutoCAD updates.
- Disable any third-party applications or add-ons loaded within AutoCAD to rule out conflicts.
