Currently, numerous companies in China have developed BIM software. Among them, the PKPM series by the China Academy of Building Research is widely used for building, structural, equipment, and energy-saving design. Guanglian Da offers quantity calculation software specialized in engineering quantity estimation. The Hongye BIM series, developed by Hongye Technology, leverages Revit as a platform for architectural, structural, and equipment design. Beijing Lizheng’s Lizheng series caters to equipment design and structural analysis. Luban Software’s Luban Quantity Calculation Series focuses on automating engineering quantity calculations. Additionally, Sver Company’s Sver series covers architecture, structure, energy-saving design, and engineering quantity statistics, much like the Tianzheng software series from Tianzheng Company.

Beyond domestic options, there are several widely used BIM software in construction. Revit, for example, is a popular BIM software that excels in both early-stage construction planning and later-stage visualization. During construction, unexpected situations often arise, requiring plan modifications. Revit adapts well to these changes, enabling autonomous coordination, inspection, and evaluation to minimize collision risks and ensure smooth progress. It features an intuitive workflow, strong adaptability, and is currently prevalent throughout China.
Autodesk Navisworks offers a more comprehensive and integrated approach, supporting thorough reviews during both the planning and construction phases. When issues are detected, it helps deliver timely solutions to prevent major setbacks, enhancing overall construction efficiency.
Meanwhile, Guanglian Da has advanced its BIM research significantly. By incorporating scheduling and cost data on top of 3D models, they have developed the BIM5D stage to create an SD information model. BIM5D enables project teams to quickly grasp key details during construction, such as progress, timelines, and material usage. This facilitates effective task coordination across departments, boosting overall efficiency. Additionally, BIM5D can simulate the required materials, budget, and workforce from start to finish. During construction, it also serves as a digital record for contracts and drawings, while supervising progress and quality control.
