This 12-story residential complex is situated in Taipei’s bustling business district, where locals often utilize transitional spaces to cope with the hot and humid climate.

Drawing inspiration from Taiwan’s vibrant local lifestyle, the architect aimed to design a 21st-century Taiwanese apartment building that fosters a rich and dynamic way of living.

Although the “Taipei Roof” appears tower-like, it does not follow traditional floor division. Instead, it employs a unique diagonal design that offers spacious terraces for each residential unit.

The terraces are enclosed by roofs and trees, creating a three-dimensional, comfortable transition space between indoor and outdoor environments.

△ Architect’s Manuscript

The architect combined a 6-meter modular reinforced concrete structure with a 3-meter modular roof frame system. The reinforced concrete forms the main structure, while a lightweight steel roof frame complements it.

Although the roof slope remains constant, the varied orientation of the residential roofs injects a dynamic rhythm into the design.

△ Project Model
The vertical drainage channels and slender vertical elements not only add rhythm to the facade but also effectively address the project’s drainage requirements.

The textured surface guides wind flow efficiently, enhancing comfort when using the terraces.
