Pritzker Prize-winning firm RCR Architects drew inspiration from the colors and textures of the Algarve landscape, transforming the natural surroundings into a new residential and service complex for the Palmares seaside lifestyle and golf resort.

Currently, the resort is developing 37 iconic new residences and luxury villas, with completion expected between summer 2021 and 2022.

The Palmares Seaside Living and Golf Resort is situated within a natural landscape between Alvor, Lagos, and Ponta da Piedade in western Algarve, Portugal. The site is dominated by light yellow beaches, complemented by orange and brown earth tones, with lush green vegetation surrounding the area.

This award-winning architectural firm partners with Kronos Homes and operators to seamlessly integrate natural landscapes and sustainable design principles throughout the project.

The master plan encompasses 460 residences, two five-star hotels, and an array of sports, leisure, and wellness facilities, with the new homes designed by RCR Arquitectes forming a key component.

Additionally, RCR Arquitectes designed a clubhouse for resort residents, a standout feature of the project. The architects carefully blend interior and exterior elements, using materials, colors, and architectural features to immerse residents in the natural landscape.

The project’s exterior and interior walls are finished with heat-insulating clay-colored plaster, while the floors incorporate natural stone foundation panels.

All residences comply with the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) sustainability standards. Each apartment is designed to maximize natural sunlight, incorporate water-saving features, and use materials sourced from sustainable regions.

To preserve sea views, strict regulations govern construction zones, building heights, and parameters, ensuring every residence enjoys unobstructed vistas of the surrounding landscape.

The resort’s clubhouse serves as a key social hub within the Palmares project, embodying the integration of all design concepts. Each distinct space features unique design and landscape frameworks, with indoor and outdoor areas blending seamlessly to create an exceptional vacation experience—making it the ideal place for leisure and relaxation.
