R SOCIETY is an independent floral expression company known for its strong narrative identity. Last year, 0321studio completed their teaching base in China—a multifunctional space dedicated to training, brand showcases, and floral retail. Through the transformed spatial design, they aim to reveal a new vision of R SOCIETY, while better illustrating the diverse relationship between floral art and architectural space.
At the project’s outset, we posed a key question about self-organization that guided our entire approach: the building’s enclosed exterior creates a certain disconnect between the indoor environment and the outside world. How can the vibrant floral elements interact with the cool stone and metal materials? What new possibilities does this interplay bring to floral art creation and education?

We envisioned the entrance not just as a simple pedestrian path but as a dynamic point of interaction between the viewer and the small forest in front of the building. By incorporating a narrow entrance and a high-reflective surface as a “gate,” the façade acts as a canvas that mirrors the surrounding environment, blending external realities into the clean architectural form.

The design centers around two interconnected spaces arranged along a continuous strip, avoiding any division. A multifunctional long block with varied material textures forms a cohesive whole. Retail, salon, operations, reception, and teaching areas all revolve around the central operation desk. Storage is cleverly integrated, managing the flow of people and activities on both sides of the workspace.

The design embraces the original building’s irregular stacking, allowing the space to extend both horizontally and vertically. This creates dynamic variations in the long operational platform, enhanced by changes in floor height.

The ceiling features a clean, sharp linear layout with segmented patch lighting. This design ensures uniform and precise illumination, enhancing the brightness and true color rendering of flowers and plants. It emphasizes the creative interaction between floral arrangements and the artists within the space.
