This project is located in the ancient town of Hoi An, Vietnam, a place rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. Known for its centuries-old riverside houses and diverse plant life, Hoi An inspired our design philosophy, which focuses on integrating and celebrating local natural and cultural values.
Specifically, the architectural form draws inspiration from local plants, while the spatial design reflects traditional residential layouts. We also emphasize thoughtful material choices, spatial arrangements, and varied forms. Our goal was to create a distinctive building that harmonizes with the local climate and lifestyle.

The homeowners often host large gatherings with family and friends, so the design needed to accommodate daily living while also showcasing creativity and making a lasting impression on guests. We focused on these requirements by balancing comfort with distinctive features that highlight local architectural traditions and introduce innovative elements.

Located in Jincheng, Hoi An City, the site is surrounded by abundant coconut and palm trees. The local adventure of the Nippa Palm Forest is a significant cultural activity, making these trees an important regional symbol. Inspired by the shapes of coconut and palm leaves and trunks, we developed a unique inclined column structure.
This distinctive structure not only creates a powerful visual impact but also forms new, familiar spaces reminiscent of the shaded areas beneath coconut and palm trees.

The spatial layout takes cues from the traditional houses of Hui’an Ancient Town. We incorporated small gardens to divide the elongated house into three sections, a design that aligns with historical practices. This approach enhances natural light and ventilation.
Anticipating future development, with possible neighboring houses on both sides, this layout ensures the home maintains ample sunlight and airflow, suitable for both present and future living conditions.

The structural elements are presented in raw concrete tones, while some brick walls remain unplastered and unpainted, preserving their original materiality. This choice creates a rugged, tight, and visually diverse effect.
Inside, the design embraces simplicity to maintain harmony and avoid visual clutter. Numerous trees are integrated both indoors and outdoors, enriching the ambiance, blocking harsh western sunlight, and providing a cool, comfortable living environment.
