Capoc is a resort hotel situated in the renowned Khaokho district, famous for its scenic resorts and breathtaking views of Thailand’s sea mist. Nestled on a steep mountainside, the site is surrounded by towering mountains and dense forests, offering a pristine natural setting. The project’s core concept focuses on enhancing the connection between guests and the surrounding environment.

To achieve this goal, every aspect of the design process—from planning and layout to material selection—was carefully integrated. Functional spaces are arranged according to the landscape’s elevation. The lounge area is positioned at the lowest level, where visitors can enjoy subtle views. A winding path then leads guests upward to the main facilities, including an all-weather restaurant and a swimming pool with panoramic vistas. As guests ascend, the magnificent surrounding scenery gradually unfolds before them.

At the highest point of the resort are the guest rooms. To maximize views of the landscape, each room is rotated 45 degrees from the main axis, providing both privacy and unique treehouse perspectives. The villa design incorporates an open courtyard concept, featuring an outdoor shower area at its center where guests can enjoy the region’s iconic misty atmosphere during rainy and winter seasons. Villas are thoughtfully designed following the natural contour lines of the land. In front of each villa, guests can unwind on mesh fabric seating areas. The name ‘De Capoc’ is derived from the Spanish word for the fibrous material of the kapok tree.

The resort’s name is inspired by the kapok tree, while “Khaokho” refers to the mountain range covered by these trees. To emphasize this natural connection, the design incorporates the diagonal patterns of kapok leaves throughout the resort. The building materials and colors harmonize seamlessly with the earth tones preserved during construction. The distinctive combination of orange-red hues and pine wood ensures the structures blend naturally with their surroundings.
