Blue bricks and black tiles, towering walls and spacious courtyards, winding streets and alleys, quaint bridges over flowing water—
all come together to present a naturally stunning deep blue hue.
This palette invites us to appreciate the passage of time and the weight of history.
Wuzhen Dafa Deshang · Xiyue Flower Garden quietly tells its story through nature.

The demonstration area is nestled in a narrow space between two rows of residential buildings, positioned underground to utilize existing functional support structures without disrupting the surface layout.
The narrow land combined with elevation changes posed the main challenge in designing this demonstration zone.

The design aimed to balance information delivery, functional requirements, and constructability.
By integrating local cultural elements, the project established a foundation for creative development: an abstract traditional roof entrance with straight, profound overhanging eaves; several spatial block combinations; and a three-entry sunken courtyard featuring ground openings.
The form of the project was primarily shaped by these demands, resulting in a highly rational and nearly singular design solution.

The design draws inspiration from the tranquility of a millennium-old water town, exploring the roots of traditional culture.
How do we uphold tradition while embracing modern technology?
The three-courtyard layout is influenced by traditional courtyard rituals, emphasizing enclosure, tranquility, and guiding visitors through streets and alleys.
The materials include two types of coatings: deep, dark green bricks and black tiles, complemented by wooden doors and windows adorned with floral patterns.
Black titanium zinc metal plates replace traditional tile stacking, emitting a calm, mysterious luster.

Uniform transfer printing on wood grain aluminum creates a consistent, warm, and natural appearance.

The expansive water landscape blends with mist and rain, extending the scene and evoking a long-lost sense of familiarity and belonging.
The entrance features a traditional double-sloped roof with a simple facade and deeply overhanging eaves.
A square-shaped basin mirrors the space vertically, with overflowing water creating ripples on the front courtyard floor.
The vertical grille represents gently falling rainwater, extending upward.

The eighty-eight gradations symbolize roof trusses falling into the water, arranged in a straight line to form the roof structure.
The fence runs parallel inside the roof truss grille, resembling a slowly opening curtain that welcomes guests from all directions.

Upon entering the courtyard, the eaves transition into converging flat eaves.
A winding path over the water leads visitors into a serene courtyard immersed in nature.
Looking back, the bustling city appears like a vast painting slowly fading away.

This tranquil space offers a peaceful refuge from the city’s hustle, allowing us to calm our restless hearts.

Golden red leaves, layers of rising branches, a few chirping birds—faint sounds of fallen leaves touching the water.
The water courtyard walls, painted with ink and water, cannot block the smoke and life beyond the walls, inviting exploration.

The full moon doorway in the wall perfectly encapsulates Chinese cultural elegance.

The scene is peaceful, especially enhanced by a foggy forest backdrop.

The winding road resembles auspicious clouds, meandering gracefully through the landscape.

Slowly descending steps embedded with black piano keys in white walls lead through a rain curtain to the main courtyard of the second entrance.
The sloping roof of Sishui Guitang is integrated into geometric blocks, each upward square linking vertical spaces.

The continuous, flowing lines outline white walls embedded with black tiles, while the drizzling rain creates a poetic misty scene typical of the Jiangnan region.

The ultimate geometric form is composed of interlocking and layered shapes.
——Salute to Mr. Bei’s Su Bo

Under the wooden eaves, straight and uniform eaves lines extend continuously.

Sunlight filters through the grille, casting layered patterns of light and shadow on the white walls and floor.

Behind the large glass display framed by imitation copper profiles, a brand-new life unfolds.

In the courtyard, one side hosts the marketing center, while turning around reveals a completely different scene.

Layers of grille lines descend from the eaves gaps, evoking the feeling of passing through a dyeing workshop and textile industry.
Through the dyed fabrics, one glimpses sunshine, lush greenery, and even a glimpse of future life.

The model homes flank the three courtyards along the walking paths.
Standing in the courtyard, one senses the timeless Eastern philosophy of “less is more.”
Gray tiles, wooden walls, black-roofed boats, blue-printed fabrics—all exude a refined elegance transcending the mundane.
Here, we pay tribute to:
The misty rain of the millennium-old Jiangnan water town.
