The Cervantes Building is an extension of the overall master plan for Plaza Carso, transforming an old industrial zone in the northwest of Mexico City. This redevelopment introduces a multifunctional complex that integrates a shopping center, offices, apartments, a theater, and two new museums.
Today, the area has evolved into a vibrant cultural and commercial hub. The building’s design emphasizes its connection to the surrounding landmarks, particularly the Soumaya Museum and the Jumex Contemporary Art Foundation. Its elliptical shape, symmetrical layout, and strategic orientation maximize views from multiple angles, fostering a subtle dialogue with the organic form of the Soumaya Museum and the steel roof structure of the theater at the square’s center.

The building conceals its structural core, providing robust support for its 22-floor height while integrating all vertical circulation elements. Large, fully operable windows promote efficient natural ventilation, reducing internal energy consumption and minimizing reliance on artificial climate control.
