Unity is a powerful game development platform created by Unity Technologies that enables users to easily design interactive content such as 3D video games, architectural visualizations, real-time 3D animations, and more. It is a fully integrated, professional-grade game engine.
Similar to tools like Director, Blender Game Engine, Virtools, and Torque Game Builder, Unity primarily utilizes an interactive graphical development environment. Its editor is available for both Windows and Mac OS X, and it supports publishing games across multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac, Wii, iPhone, Windows Phone 8, and Android.
Additionally, developers can use the Unity Web Player plugin to publish web-based games, which are compatible with browsers on both Mac and Windows. The Unity Web Player is also supported by Mac widgets.
