In Occitanie, the term ‘Belaroïa’ translates to jewelry. Occitanie refers to an ancient language spoken in the Montpellier region of southern France. This architectural complex features a three-star hotel, a four-star Tulip hotel, 12 luxury apartments, three lounges, a fitness center, and parking facilities.

▲ Functional analysis
Belaroïa is situated directly opposite the Gare Saint Roch train station, right in the heart of Montpellier. It is the first building visible upon exiting the station. From the station’s north terrace, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire project.

▲ General layout plan

This building’s unique location marks the forefront of the New St. Roch Development Zone, making it the first completed project in this area. To emphasize the district’s character, the city prioritized diversity in the project. As a result, our team designed a mixed-use complex integrating two hotels, residential apartments, a seminar venue, and an independent restaurant.

Given the limited site size, the building’s functions are vertically stacked and share circulation paths, seamlessly connecting the different functional areas. The complex triangular footprint inspired the creation of a continuous space along the building’s north and east facades through folding architectural techniques. The upper section of this space is enclosed by a broad bridge along the south facade.

At the heart of these folds sits a vast hollow space oriented southward, crowned by a cantilevered bridge. This stunning, shell-shaped structure serves as a central gathering area for all building users and houses a café with a terrace offering views of the train station opposite.
