Applying Material Parameterization in Revit
Parameterizing material settings can greatly enhance your Revit models. Let’s use a sofa model as an example to demonstrate this process.
(1) First, select the part of the model where you want to apply material parameterization, such as the sofa cushion. Click on the cushion, then navigate to the Properties panel. Click on Family Parameters, which will open the Family Parameters dialog box. From there, click New Parameter to open the Parameter Properties dialog. Rename the parameter to Seat cushion material, check the box for Instance, and click OK twice to complete the material parameter setup.
(2) Next, click on Family Types and modify the Seat cushion material parameter. For example, set it to Leather. After applying the changes, you will notice that the material of the seat cushion updates accordingly.
Using the same approach, you can parameterize the material for other parts of the sofa, such as the base.
