How to Create Foundation Slabs in Revit
To create a foundation slab, start by drawing or selecting the wall at the first elevation of your model. Then, navigate to the Structure tab and find the Basic panel (also known as base plate).
Use the Type Selector to choose the specific type of foundation slab you want to apply.
Next, go to the Modify | Create Floor Boundary tab and locate the Draw panel. Click on Boundary Line, then select Pick Wall to pick the wall from your model. Alternatively, you can manually draw the base plate using drawing tools in the same panel. Make sure the sketch forms a closed loop or boundary to define the slab correctly.
If you need to set an offset distance from the core of the wall, select the option Extend into wall on the Options Bar.
In the Offset textbox on the Options Bar, enter the desired offset value for the floor edge.
After defining the boundary, click Complete in the Modify | Create Floor Boundary tab under the Mode panel.
Note: Foundation slabs are added below their reference elevation. For instance, if you add a foundation slab at elevation 1, it will be positioned below elevation 1 and won’t be visible in the elevation 1 plan view. To see the slab in a plan view, create a new elevation below level 1 (such as a foundation elevation). Once this new lower elevation is created, the foundation slab can also be displayed as an underlay in elevation 1, shown in half-tone.
